MVCC hosts Ballroom and Latin Dance Classes
Put on those dancing shoes and come learn how to dance in one of Mohawk Valley Community College’s Center for Corporate and Community Education ballroom dancing classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced skill levels. If ballroom dancing isn’t your style, learn the art of Latin dancing at MVCC.

Classes will also be held on the Rome Campus on Saturdays from March 17 – April 21, from 10-12 p.m. The registration cost is $55 per person.
Ballroom Dance for Intermediate Dancers: This class builds on the basic steps and holds from the beginners’ class and moves to a higher level of skill while developing confidence and elegance. Ballroom Dance for Advanced Dancers: Advanced dance classes expand upon what students have learned in the intermediate classes. In addition, advanced steps and patterns in the smooth dances are covered with an emphasis on styling and technique. This class will be held Thursdays, from March 15 – April 19, 6:30-8:30 p.m., on the Utica Campus. The registration cost is $55 per person.
Ballroom Line Dance: In this new class, you’ll learn a totally new concept in dancing that combines the basics of Latin and ballroom dance, with the freedom of line dance. This new approach is called mirror line dancing and involves two lines facing one another. The health benefits of dancing are well documented through research, but the joy of good music and freedom from worry about having a partner is eliminated. In addition to the mirror line dancing, traditional line dances will also be taught. Singles and couples are welcome. This class will be held Mondays, from March 12 – April 16, 5:30-6:30 p.m., on the Utica Campus. The registration cost is $45 per person.
Latin Dance: Give in to the sultry and romantic moves of Latin dance! This exotic style of dance will get your heart racing and your feet moving. You will learn the steps and patterns for
dances such as the Salsa, Mambo, Meringue, Samba, Tango, Rumba, Bolero and the Cha-Cha! Many of these Latin rhythms are found in today’s popular music, so you can take these steps with you for a night on the town or to a party or wedding. Singles are welcome, but partners are not guaranteed. This class will be held on Fridays, March 16 – April 20, 6:30-8:30 p.m. on the Utica campus. The registration cost is $55 per person.
