Music and Dance Class for Individuals With Autism or Developmental Disabilities
Mohawk Valley Community College’s Center for Corporate and Community Education is offering a new non-credit program, developed by Joanne Lara, that provides an opportunity for individuals with autism and/or developmental disabilities to express themselves through music and dance.
Through structured music and movement, both left and right hemispheres of the brain are stimulated. The class will also offer a chance for students to interact socially in an active setting. A parent/adult must accompany each student and be present for the entire class.
Autism Movement Therapy will be offered Thursdays, Oct. 4 – Dec. 13 at the MVCC Utica Campus. Class for children ages 6-11 will be held from 5:45-6:30 p.m. Children ages 12-17 will attend from 4:30-5:15 p.m. The cost is $59.
