The Mohawk Valley Community College Men's soccer team, who moved up to #8 in the most recent NJCAA National rankings, remained undefeated today with a win against Finger Lakes Community College 2-0.
The Hawks got on the board 9 minutes into the game when Armin Mekic (Utica, NY/Proctor HS) received the ball from Tyler DeLuca (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills HS), and quickly turned and ripped a shot beating the Finger Lakes keeper.
The score remained the same until 12 minutes into the second half, when Armin Budnjo (Utica, NY/Proctor HS) made his presence felt. Mekic beat several Finger Lakes players before dishing off a perfectly timed pass to Budnjo, who calmly buried his 10th goal of the season. Despite several more chance, the Hawks were unable to score again on their way to their 6th shutout in 7 games this season. Shane Connelly recorded one save for MV.
The Hawks next game is on the road this Saturday vs. Genesee Community College in Batavia.
