Mohawk Valley Community College officially celebrated the newest chapter in its legacy with the dedication of the Robert R. Jorgensen Athletic/Events Center on Friday, November 18, 2011 on the Utica Campus.
The Robert R. Jorgensen Athletic/Events Center, named for the “Founding Father” of MVCC athletics, is a comprehensive academic, athletic, recreational, wellness, and cultural events complex. The total facility is 112,000 square feet in size. Former and current students, athletes, and the public attended the celebration that featured a ribbon cutting, tours and reception.
Robert R. Jorgensen was on hand for the dedication and joined by family, friends, the MVCC community, and formers student-athletes whom he impacted during his career at MVCC.
The Robert R. Jorgensen Athletic/Events Center houses a 6,000-square foot state-of-the-art fitness center featuring more than 30 cardiovascular machines, including treadmills, elliptical trainers, steppers, recumbent bikes, air dynes, and upper body ergometer. The complex also has three basketball and three indoor tennis courts along with a main performance gymnasium, a six-lane swimming pool, yoga/aerobic studios, a Student Success Center and much more.
