Fall Season in Full Swing
The Women’s Soccer Team stayed undefeated on the season by winning all three games last week. The Hawks defeated Broome CC and Cayuga CC by scores of 4-0 and Erie CC 4-1 in improving to 7-0 this season. MVCC has a huge home contest this week with Finger Lakes Community College on Tuesday, September 11th at 3pm. Finger Lakes is currently ranked #2 in the NJCAA National poll.
The Men’s Soccer Team (5-1) dropped their first decision of the year losing to host Tompkins Cortland 2-1 before bouncing back to defeat Cayuga CC on Saturday by a score of 3-1. The Hawks are in action this week with two home contests against Finger Lakes at 5pm on Tuesday September 11th and Genesee CC at 3pm on Saturday the 15th.
The Cross Country Teams competed at the SUNY Cobleskill Invitational on Saturday September 8th. The meet featured mainly four year colleges. Tom Arcuri (Sauquoit) was the top MVCC Men’s finisher with a time of 30:09-5.2 miles. Sara Rifendifer (Oneida) was the top MVCC Female finisher with a time of 20:49-5k. The Hawks will be competing next at Finger Lakes CC on Saturday, September 15th.
The Women’s Volleyball Team (0-6) finished the week still looking for their first victory. The Hawks have seen steady improvement specifically with their serving percentage. MVCC is in action on September 12th at Herkimer CCC followed by a POD Tournament at Broome CC on Saturday the 15th where the Hawks will face Corning, Tompkins-Cortland and Broome CC.
The Women’s Tennis Team has three matches this week. The Hawks travel to SUNY Delhi on Monday, September 10th before hosting Hudson Valley CC on Thursday the 13th and Adirondack CC on Saturday the 15th.
