Mohawk Valley CC Weekly Sports Recap 12/2/12
The Women’s Basketball Team improved to 10-0 on the season with an impressive win over Onondaga CC 74-56 and a win by forfeit over Genesee Community College. The Hawks are currently ranked #4 in the NJCAA poll. Stevie Ray (Fabius) had a stand-out game against Onondaga dishing out 6 assists and adding 4 steals to go along with 15 points. The women are at Jefferson on 12/4 before home games with Hudson Valley on 12/6 and Tompkins Cortland on 12/8.
The Men’s Basketball Team split a pair of contests last week. The Hawks took down previously unbeaten Columbia Greene CC 70-56 behind 16 points from Laz Martinez. MVCC then dropped a close decision to Division 2 Genesee CC 75-72. The men are at Jefferson on 12/4 then back to back home games on 12/6 versus Hudson Valley and 12/8 against Tompkins Cortland CC.
The Ice Hockey Team is still looking for their first win this season after losing a close 8-5 decision to Broome CC. The Hawks travel to Monroe on 12/5 to end the first semester of play.
The Women’s Soccer Team garnered many post season honors after capturing the NJCAA National Championship, this week two more honors as Samantha Getman(Whitesboro) was named as a First Team NJCAA All-American and Meghan Carlo (Oriskany) garnered 2nd Team All-American honors.
