The Women’s Soccer Team captured the Region III B Championship with a 2-1 victory over Finger Lakes CC. Vanessa Jecko (Sauquoit) made 10 saves in goal and Brooke Pominville (Lowville) and Samantha Getman (Whitesboro) each tallied a goal for the Hawks (18-1-1). MVCC advances to the National Championships which will be played at Tompkins Cortland CC November 8th-11th. Samantha Getman was named as the Tournament MVP as well as the All-Region III First Team. Joining her on the All-Region squad are Megan Carlo(Oriskany), Nicole Burline (Sauquoit) and Brittany McGraw-Wixson (C-N-S).
The Women’s Cross Country Team finished in a tie for first place at the Region III Championships. The Hawks will compete at the NJCAA National Championships in Delhi on November 10th. Sara Rifendifer (Oneida) and Chelsea Huyck (Canton) qualified for the All-Region Team.
The Men’s Cross Country Team finished in 2nd place at the Region III Championships. Tom Arcuri(Sauquoit) continued his unbeaten streak against Junior College competitors and was the individual Region III Champion. Robert Dunham (Groton) was the second place finisher. MVCC will compete next at the NJCAA National Championships on November 10th in Delhi.
The Men’s Soccer Team finished their season with a 2-0 loss in the Region III playoffs. The Hawks ended the season with a final overall record of 12-8.
The Ice Hockey Team began the 2012-13 season with 3 losses under the direction of first year Head Coach Dan Maycock. Maycock is a former MVCC two-sport standout athlete and a native of Utica.
The Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams will begin the 2012-13 season this weekend at MVCC in the Anthony Torchia Memorial Tournament. The Tournament begins this Friday at 6:00pm.
