Mohawk Valley CC Weekly Press Release

The Women’s Soccer Team continued to roll with two wins last week. The Hawks beat Jefferson CC 5-1 and North Country CC 7-0. Meghan Carlo (Oriskany) led the Hawks Offensive attack with 5 goals and 3 assists. She is currently leading the NJCAA in scoring with 20 goals in 11 games. MVCC (10-1) has two tough road contests this week at Herkimer CCC on September 26th and Clinton CC on September 29th.

The Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams have been at the head of the pack all season long. Tom Arcuri (Sauquoit) has yet to be beaten by any other Junior College competitor this season. The Women’s Team has not lost to another Junior College to this point. The Hawks are off this weekend and will return to action on Saturday October 6th.

The Men’s Soccer Team split a pair of Region III contests this week. The Hawks defeated Jefferson CC 6-3 and lost a hard fought game in overtime 2-1 against North Country CC. MVCC plays local rival Herkimer CCC at home on Wednesday September 26th before traveling to Clinton CC on Saturday September 29th.

The Volleyball Team posted their second win of the season at the Jefferson CC POD Tournament with a 3-1 win over Cayuga. The Hawks dropped the other two contests to Jefferson CC and Onondaga CC 3-1 and 3-0 respectively. Phebe Lamont (Waterville) led the way with 25 kills in the tournament. The Women return to action for a dual match at Adirondack CC on September 26th. The Hawks will travel to Finger Lakes CC on Saturday September 29th for a POD Tournament with Monroe, Finger Lakes and Alfred State.
