Weekly Sports Report 1-28-13

The Men’s Basketball Team improved to 13-7 with two hard fought victories on the road this past weekend. Shawn Branch’s free throw with 4 seconds remaining lifted the Hawks to a 55-54 victory at Clinton CC. Less than 24 hours later the men were led by Basil Harley’s career high 27 points in a 83-79 win over North Country CC. The Hawks return to action on February 2nd at Hudson Valley CC.

The Women’s Basketball Team is currently 17-2 on the season and ranked 2nd in the NJCAA poll. The Hawks suffered their first two losses of the season last week on the road at NJCAA Division I Monroe CC 66-48 and at Clinton CC 55-52. The women bounced back with a win over North Country CC 70-54. The Hawks travel to Herkimer CCC on January 29th and Hudson Valley CC on February 2nd.

The Indoor Track Teams continued to have some great individual performances. This past weekend was no exception. Mike Washington is the latest Hawk to qualify for the Indoor Track Regionals. His throw in the Shot Put of 41’9 ¼” is a personal best. Abbey Clark and Nichole Bliss also got personal records in the weight throw while Carlin Chruscicki won her third invitational in a row. MVCC travels to Ithaca next Saturday, February 2nd.

The Men’s and Women’s Bowling Teams have been very successful again this season. Jason Crandall of the Men’s squad ranks 6th in the Mountain Valley Conference with a 223 average. On the Women’s Team BrittanyMacrina and Kiamesha Philhower are consistently rolling 200 games. The Hawks travel to Hudson Valley CC on Wednesday January 31st
