Weekly Sports Report 1-14-13

Indoor Track: Several MVCC Athletes qualified for Indoor Track Regionals in their respective event(s) this past weekend at RIT. Jamal Temple (Albany), Carlin Chruscicki (South Lewis), Nichole Bliss (Dolgeville) and Abbey Clark (Central Square) all met the qualifying standards for the Indoor Track Regionals to be held on February 16th. Carlin Chruscicki set a school record in the weight throw which qualified her for the Indoor Track Nationals to be held at Texas Tech University in March.

Women’s Basketball: The Women’s Basketball Team started the spring semester right where they left off in December. The Hawks improved to 14-0 with a 56-47 win over NJCAA Division I Globe Tech. Stevie Ray (Fabius) led the way for the Hawks with 18 points while adding 3 assists and 3 steals. The Women play at Queensborough on 1/14 then back to back home contests on 1/16 against SUNY Delhi and 1/19 versus Adirondack CC.

Men’s Basketball: The Men’s Basketball Team started the spring semester with a narrow loss on the road to Globe Tech 87-84. MVCC drops to 9-5 on the season. The Hawks play at Queensborough on 1/14 before hosting SUNY Delhi in a Region III contest Wednesday, January 16th.

Ice Hockey: The Hawks Ice Hockey Team dropped two contests last week. The Hawks are still searching for their first win this season as they host Broome CC on Wednesday, January 16th and Monroe CC on Saturday, January 19th at the Utica Auditorium. Both games are slated for 7pm start times.
