Soccer Teams Stay Perfect

The Men’s Soccer Team remained perfect on the season (4-0) after winning the Alfred State East/West Soccer Tournament. The Hawks defeated Jamestown soundly on Saturday by a score of 4-0 then followed that with an exciting overtime victory against Alfred State. Dave Broedel (Brookfield) scored 9 minutes into the overtime period for the win. Mike Ellis (Waterville) and Broedel were named as co-MVP's in the Tournament. The Hawks are at Tompkins Cortland on Wednesday this week followed by a home contest against Cayuga on Saturday.
The Women’s Soccer Team finished last week with two consecutive shutouts to stay undefeated on the season at 4-0. MVCC defeated Tompkins-Cortland CC 1-0 and Niagara CC 10-0. Freshman Meghan Carlo (Oriskany) had 5 goals for the Hawks including the game winner at Tompkins Cortland CC. MVCC hosts Erie CC and Broome CC this week.
The Cross Country Teams opened up the 2012 campaign at the SUNY IT 6k Invitational. The meet featured mainly four year colleges. MVCC’s Tom Arcuri (Sauquoit) finished first among the junior college competitors. The Hawks return to action on September 15th at Finger Lakes CC.
The Women’s Volleyball Team started their season at the Alfred State Tournament on September 1st. The Hawks dropped three tough decisions and will look to get on track at the Herkimer POD Tournament on September 8th.
