Six MVCC softball players receive post-season honors

The Mohawk Valley Community College women's softball team had six players receive post-season honors after the Hawks finished with an impressive 29-10 record. MVCC finished tied for first place in the Mountain Valley Conference with Hudson Valley Community College, as both teams had 13-1 records. Head coach Bobby Allison earned Conference Coach of the Year.honors and in the NJCAA Region III tournament, the Hawks placed third.

Receiving the Second Team All-American honor was sophomore left fielder Amanda Wilsey (Boonville/South Lewis HS). She finished with a .481 batting average with seven home runs and a 542 on-base percentage. She was also First Team All-Region III and First Team All-Mountain Valley Conference.

Sophomore center fielder Maegan Jarecki (Sauquoit/Sauquoit Valley HS) was named Second Team All-Region III with a .320 batting average with five home runs and an on-base percentage of 490.

Four MVCC players were selected to the First Team All-Mountain Valley Conference. Heading the list was freshman pitcher Cheri Smith (Canastota/Canastota HS) with a 12-2 record. Joining her was sophomore catcher Lauren Morgan (Cicero/Cicero-North Syracuse HS) with a .363 batting average while leading the Hawks with 38 RBIs. She also had six home runs.

The third First Team All-Conference player was sophomore pitcher and first baseman Lindsey Heiser (Canajoharie/Canajoharie CS). Heiser was second on the team with 35 RBIs and a batting average of .439. From the mound she won 13 games with a 1.7 ERA. MVCC's final honored player was sophomore third baseman Sara Roseen (Schuyler/West Canada Valley CS) with a .386 batting average and a 470 on-base percentage.
