MVCC to Offer Adult Aquatic Classes In Newly-Renovated Pool

Mohawk Valley Community College will be offering a wide variety of non-credit adult aquatic classes this fall through MVCC’s Center for Corporate and Community Education. 
Classes will be held at the MVCC Utica campus pool, 1101 Sherman Drive. New this year is Water Running, Family Aquacize, and Competitive Lap Swim. Choose from the following:

Water Running: Participants of all abilities wear a flotation belt to enhance the effect of running, in conjunction with a variety of exercises for this great overall workout.  Classes run Monday, Wednesday, and/or Friday mornings from 10:00-11:00 a.m. and Wednesday evenings from 5:00-6:00 p.m. The 10-week classes begin September 26 and the cost is $55.  Sign up for all three morning classes for $129 and save.

Family Aquacize: This water aerobics class is for the young and old as families exercise together in the pool to the beat of fun, popular music. The class will be held Thursdays, September 29 – December 8, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. The cost is $55.

Competitive Lap Swim: Students who want to stay in shape for the off season will receive instruction in competitive swim strokes, turns and starts, and then swim laps on their own.  The class will be held Tuesdays, September 27 – December 6, from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.  The cost is $55.

Water Aerobics: This shallow water exercise, set to music, will help participants lose inches while toning and strengthening all of the body’s major muscle groups.  Choose from Monday, Wednesday, and/or Friday mornings from 11:00-12:00 p.m. and Mondays evenings from 7:00-8:00 p.m.  The 10-week classes begin September 26 and the cost is $55.  Sign up for all three morning classes for $129 and save.

Lane and Lap Lovers Swim: This fitness swimming class offers a fantastic aerobic workout and is perfect for cross-training.  Students can swim at their own pace and in their own space.  Choose from Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:00 p.m.  Classes begin on September 26.  Take all three morning classes for $79; the 10-week evening class is $45.

Beginning Swim for Adults and Older Teens: This program is for adults and teens who would like to learn the basic fundamentals of swimming and/or conquer a life-long fear of the water.  Learn basic survival skills and strokes.  The class will be held Thursdays, September 29 – December 8, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. The cost is $65.

Intermediate Swim for Adults and Older Teens: This program is for adults and teens that can swim independently and want to refine their strokes.  Instruction is based on individual students’ needs and skill levels.  The class runs Wednesdays, September 28 – December 7, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. The cost is $65.

All MVCC non-credit instruction is completely self-supporting, including indirect costs, and requires no public funding.
