MVCC Fall Sports Season 2012 Final Report
Women’s Soccer
The Women’s Soccer Team finished the season with a final overall record of 21-1-1 under the direction of Head Coach Steve Senior (17th season). The Team won the Mountain Valley Conference Championship and the Region III-B Championship. They started their amazing post season run by defeating the #1 ranked team in the country, Finger Lakes CC, 2-1 in the regional championship game. At Nationals they came from behind and never led until 3:30 remaining in the opening game to defeat Holyoke CC 3-2. Their title run continued dominating Anoka Ramsey 2-0 in the semi-finals. Their season culminated by beating Gloucester County College for the National Championship; the program’s second and the college’s 22nd overall. The Hawks were led by Meghan Carlo; Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year, 1st Team All-Region, 2nd Team All-American, Samantha Getman; Region III Tournament MVP, 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Region, 1st Team All-American, Meghan Gaffney; All-Conference, Brittany McGraw-Wixson All-Conference, 2nd Team All-Region, Nicole Burline; 2nd Team All-Region, and Mia DeGironimo; NJCAA Tournament MVP.
Men’s Soccer
Under the direction of Head Coach Robert Gould (34th season) the Men’s Soccer Team completed their season with a final overall record of 12-8. The team won the East/West Tournament as well as the Finger Lakes CC Tournament. The Hawks were seeded 7th in the Region III Tournament. They rebounded from a 2-0 halftime deficit vs. Jamestown CC to win 5-2 in a first round post season contest. They were then defeated in the quarterfinals by the eventual champion 2-0. MVCC was led by Admir Ramic; 1st Team All-Conference, 2nd Team All-Region, Chris Buck; 1st Team All-Conference, 2nd Team All-Region, Mike Ellis; 1st Team All-Conference and Dave Broedel; East/West Tournament MVP.
Women’s Cross Country
The Women’s Cross Country Team finished their season with a final overall record of 49-1-1 under the guidance of Head Coach Gary Parker (23rd season). The Team won the Mountain Valley Conference and Region III Championship. They finished in second place at the NJCAA Nationals. The Hawks were led by Sara Rifendifer; All-Conference, All-Region, All-American, Chelsea Huyck; All-Conference and All-Region. Andrea Szewczyk, Stephanie Peck and Brittany Englert were named to the All-Conference Team.
Men’s Cross Country
Head Coach Gary Parker (23rd Season) led the Men’s Cross Country Team to a final overall record of 40-9. The team finished 2nd in the Mountain Valley Conference and in Region III before placing 7th at the NJCAA Nationals. Tom Arcuri was the Mountain Valley Conference and Region III Champion as well as a 2nd Team All-American. Robert Dunham made the All-Conference and All-Region Teams.
Women’s Tennis
Under the direction of Head Coach Zyn Jackiw (8th season) the Women’s Tennis Team finished the season with a record of 0-10 in match play.
Women’s Volleyball
The Women’s Volleyball Team completed their season with a record of 6-22 under the direction of Head Coach Kelly Entwistle (1st season). The Team was led by All-Conference selection Phebe Lamont.
