
MVCC’s Broadhurst elected as NJCAA Regional Director for Women’s Athletics
Mohawk Valley Community College’s Gary Broadhurst was elected as the National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) Region III Director of Women’s Athletics this past Tuesday by regional athletic directors.
As regional director Broadhurst will represent Region III on the national level in the women’s division. He is the Associate Dean of Athletics and Physical Education at MVCC.
Broadhurst is in his 32nd year at the MVCC and heads one of the most extensive and diverse two-year college intercollegiate athletic programs in the country. MVCC features 22 athletic programs which have won 19 team national championships and produced 107 individual national champions. He has served as Director of Athletics at MVCC since 1996.
Other honors Broadhurst has been presented include being named Community College Northeast Region Athletics Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics. Broadhurst is credited with increasing the college’s athletics public image through website development, men’s and women’s basketball media guides, individual sport brochures, athletics recruitment video and televised men’s and women’s basketball games on public access channels.
Herkimer County Community College’s athletic director Donald Dutcher was elected to the position of assistant regional director for women’s athletics for Region III.
