
The Men’s Soccer Team (6-2 overall record) split a pair of Region III contests last week. MVCC defeated Finger Lakes CC 1-0 and dropped a hard fought decision to Genesee CC 3-2. The MVCC offense has been led so far this season by; Mike Ellis (Waterville) 3 goals and 5 assists and Admir Ramic (Utica) 4 goals. The Hawks head to Jefferson CC on Wednesday the 19th and host North Country CC on Saturday September 22nd.
The Women’s Soccer Team (8-1 overall record) saw their unbeaten streak snapped by Finger Lakes CC last week in a close 2-1 loss at home. The women bounced back with a 6-0 win over Genesee CC on Saturday. MVCC was led this past week by Samantha Getman (Whitesboro) who tallied two goals and an assist. The Hawks travel to Watertown on Wednesday the 19th to play Jefferson CC before returning home on September 22nd to play North Country CC.
The Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams had a very successful meet at Finger Lakes CC this past Saturday. This was the first meet where all of the competitors were from two year college-NJCAA schools. Tom Arcuri (Sauquoit) remained undefeated against junior college runners as he was the individual champion in leading the Hawks to a second place team finish. The Women’s team took home first place by edging Alfred CC by one point. Chelsea Huyck (Canton) finished in fourth place to lead the Hawks. Up next for MVCC is an invite at Cortland on September 22nd.
The Women’s Volleyball Team got their first win of the season at the POD Tournament in Binghamton hosted by Broome CC. The Hawks lost close contests to Corning and Broome CC before coming back to defeat Tompkins Cortland CC. Kayla Britell (NY Mills) had 62 assists and Phebe Lamont (Waterville) had 16 kills to lead the Hawks offense. Sam Ciotti (Whitesboro) contributed 7 aces and 15 kills. The Hawks travel to Delhi on September 19th then at Jefferson CC on September 22nd for a POD Tournament.
