What do you love about your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is the sense of accomplishment I feel each and every day. I know that the students I see are on the path towards a larger and sometimes even life-changing goal. To see the change in people from timid and sometimes terrified individuals into confident and successful students is incomparable.

Advice for the adult student/dislocated worker:
While it can often be difficult to see the positive in a major life change such as losing your job of several years, remember you are NEVER alone. There are so many people on and off campus who can and will support you through your journey if you just have the courage to ask.

What do you love about your job?
What I love about my job is helping our returning adult students achieve a successful outcome. I understand all of the uncertainty they are experiencing because not too long ago I traveled down that same road as a non-traditional student.

Advice for the adult student/dislocated worker:
The best advice I could give to a returning adult student is to be patient with yourself during the transition period, you have to learn how to balance both your academic and personal responsibilities.

What do you love about your job?
The sense of fulfillment you get in helping adult students attain their goals. Establishing and strengthening positive relationships. Achieving a feeling of accomplishment in their overall success.

Advice for the adult student/dislocated worker:
Do not let anything prevent you from accomplishing your goals and dreams. You control your own destiny, formulate a plan, commit to it, and then do it.

What do you love about your job?
I feel very fortunate to have a job that allows me to witness the transformation of lives for so many of the students we see each day. Once an adult student takes that first step on their educational journey their lives are never the same. Many begin with a lack of confidence unsure of what they have begun but by the end of their journey they are transformed into self-assured individuals ready to launch a new career. I look forward to graduation every year and applaud each and every one of the students for their achievements.

Advice for the adult student/dislocated worker:
Keep your eye on the prize. Over the years I have seen many students struggle with those first few moments as they commit to pursuing another career or educational path. Some students are forced to consider re-training as a result of a lay-off but if you view this trying time as an opportunity you will be surprised at the new doors that are open to you. The one thing I can tell you is that our adult students excel because they have life experience that has shown them the way. Before you know it you will be walking across the stage to receive your degree.
