MVCC Traffic & Parking Regulations
Parking
Parking an unregistered vehicle on campus will result in a $15.00 fine in addition to any parking or moving violation.
Lock your car and conceal all valuables. The college assumes no responsibility for the vehicle or its contents while it is parked on college property.
The areas designated by these regulations for parking are the only legal parking area on campus. All others, whether marked or not, are illegal. Vehicles parking in any roadway, fire lane, unauthorized in Handicapped area or any other restricted area will be towed and stored at the owner's expense, and will not receive any prior warning other than these regulations. The assignment of a decal is not a guarantee of a parking space, which must be considered a privilege and not a right. There is additional parking behind the trailers in the maintenance lot. Entry to this lot may be made by turning off Armory Drive onto Tilden Ave, and proceeding into maintenance lot, palrking lot will be on the left. The college, having marked approved parking areas, is under no obligation to mark all areas where parking is prohibited.
Approved Parking Areas
These are designated by two parallel lines. Cross parking is strictly prohibited. Vehicles must be between the lines. Faculty and staff assigned to Payne Hall are to park in the gated area in the Payne Hall lot. Administrators have a reserved parking lot. Faculty assigned to the Gym are to use the Gym Lot when space is available. Gate keys for use in the Payne Hall Staff lot are not transferable. Keys used by unauthorized persons will be confiscated. Community and Alumni can park in open parking areas or the visitor lot. Visitors are to use the Visitor lot adjacent to Payne Hall. SEE SECTION ON VISITOR PARKING. These is no parking or stopping allowed on the roadways. Drivers wishing to discharge or pick-up passengers must pull into approved parking areas.
Dormitory Parking
Dormitory residents must request a Dorm Decal. A Dorm Decal is required if a vehicle is to be parked overnight in the Dorm lot. Dormitory residents and Dormitory guests must park in the Dormitory lot. Dormitory residents are responsible for insuring their guests vehicles are properly registered. Dormitory guests must have a Dormitory Visitor Parking pass from the RA or the Security Department and be sponsored by a Dormitory resident. Dormitory visitors must request a parking pass at the time they are issued a guest pass. Parking passes are required even if a Guest Pass is not. Dormitory guest passes can also be obtained in the Security Department AB109.
Overnight Parking
The Security Department must approve all parking between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM (except for permanently registered Dorm vehicles parked in the Dorm Lot).
Temporary Parking
Faculty, staff, and students may request a temporary parking pass if they currently have a registered vehicle on campus. Temporary passes are valid for a maximum of (5) days. Extensions can be granted if necessary on a case–by–case basis. The temporary vehicle and the permanent vehicle cannot be parked on the campus at the same time unless the permanent one is disabled and registered as such in the Security Department. Pass must be displayed on drivers-side of dashboard and visible from the exterior.
Visitor and Vendor Parking
Visitor Parking is authorized in the Visitor Section of the Payne Hall lot. Faculty and Staff can request visitor parking passes in advance for scheduled visitors. Faculty, Staff and Students will not use the visitor parking lot. Sponsors must provide the following information: Name of Driver, Make, Model, Color, State of Registration and plate number. Forms are avaialbe in the Security Department. Telephonic requests can be made during normal business hours. Sponsors name, phone number, and office number should be provided so the visitor can be given directions should they be necessary.
- Requests for more than five passes must be in writing and should be made at least (5) five business days in advance.
- If special visitor parking (visitor parking outside visitor lot) is required a written request must be made at least 1 week in advance. Approval is not automatic. Request for special visitor parking in fire lanes or other unauthoried area will not be approved.
- If more than ten visitor passes are requested by one sponsor, a written request must be made at least 2 weeks in advance so arrangements can be made to secure special visitor parking. See item 6 below for large MVCC sanctioned events.
- Telephonic request for special visitor parking will be handled on a case by case basis.
- Sponsors should provide visitors with a map and a copy of the "Traffic and Parking Regulations" handbook.
- Visitor parking for large MVCC sanctioned activities (generally after normal business hours), will be designated as follows:
- Payne Hall
- Payne Hall Lot
- Academic Building
- A-1 (overflow A-3)
- Science & Tech
- A-2 (overflow A-3)
- College Center
- A-2 (overflow A-3)
- Gym
- South end of Payne Hall Lot
- Visitor passes are valid for a maximum of (5) five days. Requests must include the number of days required or they will be issued for (1) one day.
- Visitors can also register their vehicles by calling the Security Department and providing their Name, Make, Model, Color, State of registration and plate number of their vehicle. Telephonic requests are valid for one (1) day only. Visitors can request additional time through their spronsor or by visiting the Security Department AB 109.
