The College needs your social security number for several reasons, such as:
- The Department of Education requires your social security number to process your FASFA, to receive any form of Financial Aid and for reporting purposes.
- If you plan on taking advantage of any education-related tax credits, you must provide your social security number;
- Seeking employment at Mohawk Valley Community College;
- When trying to match your current records of enrollment with any previous enrollments you had at the College under a different identifying number.
- To provide an accurate record to another college or university as a result of a transcript request by you, or
- To verify attendance or degree(s) received when applying for licensure or to prospective employers.
- The College requires your SSN due to federal and state law requirements.
The failure to supply your social security number may hinder the processing of your transcripts, scholarship application, tax information, financial aid, etc., or the receipt of other requested services and information from the College and other third parties. The College will not be responsible for situations that may arise as a result of not having your social security number on file.
