Tenure Track Faculty - Fall 2008
Job Description
- English
- to teach a variety of entrylevel Reading, ESL and English courses. Masters degree in Reading. English, or ESL or related field; varied teaching experience teaching reading, English and ESL; ability to assess reading and writing ability, and international experience required; Ph.D. preferred.
- Human Services
- to teach coursework in human services, chemical dependency and related areas and to serve as liaison to field placements. Masters degree in Social Work or Human Services, and clinical experience in a relevant area required; Ph.D. preferred.
- Nursing Instructor
- to teach in an NLN accredited Associate degree RN program. NYS RN license, BSN, MSN or MSNeligible at the time of appointment, Healthcare Provider CPR certification, and recent clinical experience in medicalsurgical, acute or critical care, psychiatric and/or obstetrical nursing required. Travel to offcampus clinical sites required.
- Mathematics (2 positions)
- to teach courses ranging from the developmental through the college level. Masters degree in Mathematics or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in mathematics. One position will be based on the Utica campus and a second position will be based on the Rome campus.
- Physics
- to teach beginning level Physics, Engineering Science, and possibly Computer Science from the descriptive level through the calculusbased level. Masters degree in Physics required; Ph.D. preferred.
- Social Science
- to teach a wide range of Sociology courses with special emphasis in research methods, race relations, urban and gender studies. Masters degree in discipline (MA or MS) and appropriate related experience in Sociology required; Ph.D. preferred.

Part-time Faculty - Fall 2008
Job Description
MVCC is looking for qualified people to join the part-time faculty in a variety of disciplines. This is an opportunity to use your professional expertise in a positive teaching and learning environment that is focused on student success. Resumes and credentials are being reviewed for both immediate and future consideration. For Fall 2008, there is specific need for part-time faculty to teach General Biology, Human Life Science, Developmental Psychology, Education courses, Chemistry, Physics, ESL, and English. Nursing clinical instructors, BSN required, are needed to teach first year Fundamentals of Nursing and second year Medical-Surgical. Clinical instructors are needed for CNA curriculum; must be RNs currently in a hospital setting. In most cases, a graduate degree appropriate to the particular field or discipline is required. For all areas, college teaching experience, knowledge of student learning outcomes, and capability with instructional technology and/or teaching online are preferred, in addition to understanding the mission of a comprehensive community college. For consideration in any of these areas or if you would like to teach in another field, please indicate the discipline(s) in your letter of application, day or evening availability, and campus preference for Utica or Rome. The Center for Community and Economic Development is seeking instructors to teach a range of non-credit courses including Lifeguarding, Water Safety, Medical Transcription, as well as day camp counselors for the College for Kids Program.
