MVCC ADJUNCT FACULTY FOR SPRING 2010
MVCC seeks qualified individuals to serve as adjunct faculty. Share your professional expertise in a positive teaching and learning environment, focused on student success.
Specific needs for Spring 2010 exist in the following academic areas:
- Accounting
- Anatomy and Physiology Lab – Evening or Saturday sessions
- Business Management
- Chemical Dependency – Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counseling
- Chemistry & Developmental Chemistry – Bachelor degree in chemistry with Master degree in chemistry or related field required
- Computer Programming – Data Structures, OS, Computer Applications, Cyber-security and Networking
- Criminal Justice
- Culinary Arts
- Environmental Science Lab – Day or Saturday sessions
- History – World Civilizations I and II, and American History
- Hospitality
- Human Services – Introduction to Human Services, Counseling and liaison for students involved in internships. Experience with social services agencies preferred.
- Machining – Lecture/lab. Certificates in Manual and CNC Machining and four (4) years machining experience required
- Mathematics – Introductory Algebra and Intermediate Algebra
- Mechanical Engineering Technology – to teach courses focusing in the field of materials; Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering required, relevant industry work highly desirable
- Photography – Bachelor degree in Photography, traditional (wet lab) and digital experience required. Master degree or MFA preferred
- Physics – Algebra and Calculus-based Physics
- Political Science
- Psychology
- Sociology
- Writing & Developmental Writing – Bachelor degree in English or Rhetoric with Master degree in related field
Additionally, MVCC seeks qualified instructors to teach in its non-credit, community education division:
- Renewable Energy Career Exploration – Utica campus; course is intended for teens who wish to learn about professions in the field of renewable energy; Master¡¦s degree preferred, Bachelor¡¦s degree in renewable energy or a related field required.
Please indicate in your cover letter the discipline(s) in which you seek consideration, along with Utica or Rome campus preference and day or evening availability unless specified above. For most MVCC teaching opportunities, a graduate degree appropriate to the particular discipline is required. College teaching experience, knowledge of student learning outcomes, and familiarity with instructional technology and/or online teaching are preferred.
