- Irma Simonton and James H. Black Award for Excellence in Children’s Literature -- Annual award started in 1972 for picture books that combine text and pictures excellently. Administered by the Bank Street College of Education and judged by children from the College’s first and second grades and 10 cooperating schools around the country.
