Gary Broadhurst is in his thirty-forth year at Mohawk Valley Community College and is currently the Associate Dean of Athletics & Physical Education. He directs one of the most extensive, diverse, and successful two year college intercollegiate athletic programs in the country. Under his leadership the Hawks have captured 17 NJCAA National Championships while finishing second an additional 12 times; 48 Region III Championships with 43 runner-up finishes; and 91 Mountain Valley Conference Titles. Under his guidance MVCC student athletes have been selected as NJCAA All-Americans 375 times, 885 have been recognized as All-Region and an astounding 128 have been individual NJCAA National Champions. Six student athletes have been selected as NATYCAA Scholar Athlete of the Year; more than any other institution in the nation and twenty-one have been chosen for the SUNY Chancellor’s Scholar Athlete of the Year. The Hawks won the inaugural NATYCAA Cup in 2004 in the non-scholarship division and have never finished lower than eighth in the history of the national award recognizing excellence at the national level of competition in comprehensive athletic programs.
Broadhurst is the Women’s Regional Director of Region III of the NJCAA. He previously served as the Chair of the region’s Board of Directors for over ten years. He is the immediate President of the National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators, the current Treasurer of NATYCAA, serves on the New York State SUNY Athletics Oversight Committee and he has previously served on the Executive Committee of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
Broadhurst has been the recipient of numerous awards during his career including the NACDA Northeast Athletics Director of the Year; 2007 and 2012, the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service, and was selected by his peers for the inaugural NJCAA Region III Athletic Director of the Year.
In addition to his athletic duties as Associate Dean, Broadhurst also administers a comprehensive physical education curriculum at Mohawk Valley. Holding the rank of Professor he is responsible for the curriculum development and faculty for the Physical Education, Recreation & Leisure Services, Sports Medicine, and Coaching Certificate programs. He also oversees the operation of the Robert R. Jorgensen Athletic/Events Center.
A graduate of Sauquoit Valley Central School, Broadhurst began his post-secondary education at Mohawk Valley Community College in 1973 before completing both his B.S.E. and M.S.E. degrees at SUNY Cortland.

Faculty do not have office hours over the winter break or if their classes are not in session, i.e. during the summer.
